Bluedot festival – Thursday 20th July – Sunday 23rd July

A message from the Bluedot organisers:

Hello Holmes Chapel neighbours,

It's not too long until the teams start arriving to transform the green fields of Jodrell Bank into the music, science, culture, art and technology experience of Bluedot.

Traffic management

The traffic management plan for Bluedot 2023 is similar to previous years, with a planned ‘temporary road closure’ for the A535. The ‘temporary road closure’ is a deterrent to through traffic, where unnecessary vehicles are added to the local road network. This closure does not apply to local residents, businesses, visitors or Bluedot customers. In previous years the advertised road closure worked extremely well and helped alleviate traffic congestion on the roads surrounding Jodrell Bank over the festival period.

Further, to aid with traffic flow from the A535 onto Bomish Lane, a set of 3 – way temporary traffic signals will be used. This will help control and ease the traffic in and out of the junction. The signals will be used as needed at peak times throughout the event.

Sound management

As with previous years, there is a dedicated resident hotline phone number to register a concern with respect to noise. The number is:

0161 806 1615

The hotline will be attended by event management staff for the duration of the festival. However, please be aware that before and during the festival there are planned sound checks. The planned sound checks are very loud, but they do not represent the level of noise you may experience during the festival. They are purposefully loud so we can simultaneously use live acoustic measurements and previous measurements to minimise sound disruption to residents during the event.

The sound checks are scheduled for:

Wednesday 19th July: 17:00 – 20:00 – System checks Thursday 20th July: 12:00 – 14:00 – Artist and system checks sound check; 14:00 – 16:00 – Site wide noise propagation test Friday 21st July – Sunday 23rd July: 09:00 – 12:00 – Artist sound checks
