Church Walk Resurfacing Works

The Parish Council is delighted to have a start date for resurfacing Church Walk. The work will begin on 26th September and, all being well, is expected to take about a month.

The surface of Church Walk is in poor condition, which makes it especially difficult for people with mobility issues to navigate. The Parish Council has been investigating options for improvements for several years. Unfortunately, Covid delayed the works, but now a contractor has been selected (TEM Groundworks Ltd) and planning permission obtained.

The works will be a full resurface of Church Walk from Cheshire House down towards London Road. Tegular paving, the same as the paving at the end of Church Walk (London Road) will be used throughout. A fold-down bollard will also be installed to prevent cars driving up Church Walk.

The Parish Council is very grateful to the Co-op for allowing four car parking spaces to be used as a compound for TEM. This will help to ensure the works run smoothly. We are also very grateful to local businesses for their patience whilst these works take place. Full access to all businesses will be maintained throughout, but residents are advised to take special care when accessing Church Walk whilst the resurfacing is taking place.

The Parish Council is funding these works and hopes that they will make a significant improvement to Church Walk and further enhance the conservation area of the village.

Any queries relating to these works should be directed to the Clerk by emailing clerk@holmeschapelparishcouncil.gov.uk or calling 01477 533 934.
