Civic Service for the Community & Volunteer Celebration Event

The Parish Council had a busy Sunday 19th September 2021!

We held our Civic Service at St Luke's Church with representatives from local community organisations in the morning. Canon Rob McClaren led the service focusing on the importance of serving others and the very great value community groups bring to this village. The Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Chris Jackson, finished the service with a word of thanks to all those who give so much to make Holmes Chapel a wonderful place to live. Attendees were then invited back to St Luke's Church Hall for coffee and cakes.

At lunchtime we then held a celebratory lunch with the Holmes Chapel Partnership to honour all those who volunteered during the Covid Pandemic, in particular the first lockdown of 2020. Hazel Sutcliffe, Chair of the Partnership, and Cllr Chris Jackson shared a few words of thanks, which was then followed by the distribution of certificates to thank our volunteers. It was a fantastic event, and lovely to meet in person, many whom we'd only spoken to over the phone or via email. We also showed the film produced by the Cheshire Association of Local Councils about our volunteering work during the pandemic. You can watch it here:
