"Happy to Chat" Benches

Holmes Chapel Youth Council had the idea to designate a couple of our public benches as places where passers by; dog walkers, joggers, parents with pushchairs or other locals can spend just a couple of minutes chatting to a stranger as they pass by.

Two seats have recently been fitted with ‘Happy to Chat’ signs saying 'Sit here if you don't mind somebody stopping to say hello'. If you can spare a few minutes as you go about your day then you could make a real difference to others.

Loneliness is one of the most significant health concerns - the benches provide an opportunity for those who would appreciate a chat.
