It was an honour to attend the Remembrance Sunday Commemorations on 10th November.
Each year, it is a privilege to parade alongside so many of our uniformed groups as well as members of the Holmes Chapel Royal British legion, fire and police representatives and community organisations. As always, it was wonderful to see our residents lining the streets supporting the parade as it goes by. Once again the parade was led by the fantastic Acceler8Band who faithfully attend our Remembrance Commemorations every year, with this year being even special as it is their 40th year playing for us.
For the first time this year, the Remembrance Service was streamed online. It was a poignant service, with Canon Rob Mclaren reminding us of the importance of living a life of self-sacrifice and service. Our Chair, Cllr Chris Jackson and Cllr Anita Armitt (also a representative for the Holmes Chapel RBL) both gave Bible Readings. The service was followed by a two-minute silence, the reading of the names of all those from Holmes Chapel and Cranage who died in World War 1 and 2, and the laying of wreaths.
The Chair, Cllr Chris Jackson, was honoured to lay a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council, with representatives, Jessi, Brianna and Sam from our Youth Council laying a wreath also.
Thank you to the Holmes Chapel Royal British Legion and St Luke’s Church for all your hard work in making this event so special to all of us. To our uniformed groups, fire and police representative and community organisations, thank you for faithfully attending and parading with us. Finally, thank you to our residents for supporting this poignant and special event in the village.
