Remembrance Sunday 2022

The Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service is taking place on Sunday 13th November.

The Parade, led by the Acceler8Band, will set off from the Health Centre car park at 9.30am, parading around the route and arriving at St. Luke’s Church in time for the service at 10am. Please be aware that there will be a rolling road closure for the duration of the parade. However, London Road will be closed from 9am – 12 noon. Following the wreath laying in the churchyard just after 11am, the parade will then march back to the Health Centre.

The Parish Council would like to thank all those involved in organising the Remembrance Sunday Commemorations. Your hard work and careful preparation is greatly appreciated.

We would also like to thank the U3A History Group and Holmes Chapel Yarn Bombers for the poignant displays in St Luke's. Please take the opportunity to go and read the stories of those from the village who were involved in World War 1 or World War 2, reflecting on the sacrifice they gave for our freedom today.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them."

Extract from the poem 'The Fallen' by Robert Laurence Binyon
