Restoration of the Dane Meadow Pond

In September, work commenced on restoring the pond in the Dane Meadow. This pond had been a place where wildlife could flourish, but damage to the liner meant that in the hotter months the pond was drying out which was severely impacting those wildlife that depended upon it.

Using S106 money from Cheshire East Council, work has been carried out to remove some vegetation which was exacerbating the issue and reline the pond with a three layered liner.

Fencing is in place for the next month to prevent damage to the liner and to allow the pond to fill up naturally.

The Parish Council are funding some cornfield annuals which the Friends of the Dane Meadow will sow on the spoil heap from the pond which we hope will make a nice display next summer.

The Parish Council looks forward to seeing the wildlife in the pond flourish as the pond, once more, becomes an integral feature of the Dane Meadow.
