The Parish Council was honoured to take part and lay a wreath during a short, socially distanced, service to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day on Saturday 15th August.
The service began with the Chair of the Holmes Chapel Royal British Legion, Mr Malcolm Coates reading an exhortation. The Bugler then play the 'Last Post' which was followed by a two minute silence. At 11am the Bugler play 'Reveille' and this was followed by the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Brian Bath, and the Chair of the Royal British Legion, Mr Malcolm Coates, laying wreaths.
Cllr Brian Bath then recited 'Kohima':
"When you go home
Tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow
We gave our today"
Cllr Anita Armitt then read 'The Cry for Peace' and Canon Rob McLaren finished the service with a Blessing.
